Travel day

Well, I had hoped to write a great post all about traveling today, but my father is freaking out and all of my time is now gone. But, I really wanted to write something. Here is the pic of the day first.
        Picture # 147
Ok, so I took this yesterday. I did two because I knew I wouldn't be able to today.

And now, I have to hit the road. Then the air for an entire night, then seven hours in the Paris airport, then another seven hours in a plane, then finally I will touch down in Egypt.
I will be updating the blog first before facebook or anything else, so here I will talk about what I am learning abroad and post pictures of the different sites. I'm not 100% sure if I will be able to continue on my challenge for the summer, but I sincerely hope so. In any case, I will post pictures.

Last day home

And I spent it with a snake. Not really, but I did pose with one! The one that is scary...
        Picture # 146
I've also been packing for-EVER! I'm afraid I am going to leave something important tomorrow... but I guess it'll always be that way.
Oh, and look at who decided she wanted to come with me. :) I love my cat!

A walk!

I went for a walk this afternoon up in Rhode Island. I'm glad I got to go walking around since later we drove back to Maryland and it was dark when we got back. But anyway, on my walk I turned the corner and passed by the local cemetery. I wasn't really paying attention, but then the old fence caught my attention. I took a few shots just up against the fence but then I saw the sign by the gateway. I found that made for a much more interesting picture.

....I leave for Egypt on Monday!!!!!

A 100th Birthday!

I come from a line where the people live pretty long lives. My Great-Grandmother lived to be 98, and her daughters have followed in her footsteps. Yesterday my Great-Aunt Gerry turned 100 years old, and her youndger sister, Auntie Wheel (Philly) will be turning 99 this June. My own grandmother turned 89 two days ago, and the youngest of them is turning 85 I believe. She keeps telling us that she's 29. Anyway, my family drove up yesterday to see them.
        Picture # 144
When I'm not hunching down for a picture, I easily tower over my three Great-Aunts. But they still are so fiesty! I love it.

Responsibility says; Responsibility is-
1.       the state or fact of being responsible.
2.       an instance of being responsible: The responsibility for this mess is yours!
3.       a particular burden of obligation upon one who is responsible:the responsibilities of authority.
4.       a person or thing for which one is responsible: A child is a responsibility to its parents.
5.       reliability or dependability, esp. in meeting debts or payments

I was not very responsible for today's picture.
        Picture # 143

Took this in front of the middle school...without asking permission. You can see the door opening behind me and it's two security guys coming out to talk to me. We had a good laugh about it. They tried to scare me but since my mom works there I wasn't intimidated at all. But next time, I definitely plan on asking first. :P

Pool Day

Today I got to spend my afternoon with my cousin Emily. She lives in the country with a beautiful house and yard. I got a shot with the laundry today because I thought it portrayed country living perfectly, haha.
          Picture # 142
After I took this, we walked around and saw the pond.
Then we went swimming! In her pool, not the pond...And I put the camera away for that, no one needs to see me in a bathing suit. But man, the water was perfect. I was tempted to stay in all day. :)

Where I stay...

This is where I live when I'm at home. The couch. Yup, I was lazy today.

Down an Alley...

I love the look of my downtown. There are a ton of great places to take pictures at but unfortunately when I went downtown it started to rain. So while my picture today wasn't completely out of the weather I was able to keep my camera mostly covered.
          Picture # 140
Hmmm, I really like the image but I'm thinking this is portraying me in a negative light. Haha. Here's another one.
          Picture # 140b
I do like the effect though, kind of like sun flare. The only thing I really don't like about this picture is my hair, but it always freaks out when it rains, so there was really nothing I could do. :(

I was feeling transparent today...:)
        Picture # 139
Tomorrow I'm planning on exploring a little bit. I should find a pretty sweet location to shoot at tomorrow.

Another film noir?

I gotta admit, I love the film noir look in pictures. It's so completely opposite to my usual nature, I typically am really happy and satisfied with life. But every once in awhile, I just lose the desire to smile. Not for long, maybe just a day or so. But darker pictures help me to portray another side of who I am.
         Picture # 138
Try to guess where today's picture is!

Summer clothing

It was finally hot and sunny today!
           Picture # 137
Going with the rustic look today. I tried to get one of my cats in on the pic, but she scampered off. And soon after was chasing a butterfly. It was unbelievably cute.

Day 136

I wore my red lipstick today. :)
         Picture # 136
Gotta love the contrast of a floral print dress against wood logs. I love wearing weird outfits in completely different locations.

No effort

Today was a no effort day. To be honest, I forgot I had a self-portrait due which is weird since I've been doing this everyday since January. So today you get me as me, sitting on my couch, no makeup, just the flash. Fun stuff.

One for Today!

I got to hang out with my awesome friend Jackie from high school and my little sister tonight. While we didn't get crazy we definitely had a fun time catching up. As for the camera info I kept it on auto since I knew I would have to use the flash anyway and didn't want to have to worry about specific settings.
        Picture # 134
LOVE it!!! So much fun. Everyone was so different in every picture. :)

One for yesterday

Ok, here is "yesterday's" picture. I was given a Chinese dress from my older cousin who lives in New York awhile ago, but I've never had the chance to wear it. But today it just seemed like the perfect idea. The only thing I was missing was some red lipstick. Oh well.
        Picture # 133
My sister chose this one for me since she sees I look like a doll. I thought I just looked creepy. But that's art for you. If you have an opinion on it either way, or even something completely, feel free to comment!

Skipping today...

Today has been a crazy day. It's been raining something awful and I had to drive five hours. I guess I could take a picture really quick, but I think I'll just do two tomorrow instead, where I can take the time to actually be inventive and work on creating some unique images. So tomorrow I'll have two complete different outfits and locations. Sorry about not keeping to my daily schedule. :(

Second Wedding of the weekend.

Whew! I'm looking forward to just relaxing. Anyway, I was using another camera the majority of the day to take pictures and video of the wedding. My self portrait for the day is on the other camera. Oh well.
Here is a picture of me practicing my dancing with a new-found partner.
      Picture # 132
I like to think I'm pretty slick, but I'm not...
And here is a picture I did take, before I switched equipment.
        Picture of the bride
Isn't she just gorgeous?!?! Loved the light shining through.

I got to shoot a wedding today, it was awesome. And here is one of the locations I took pictures at of the bride and groom.
         Picture # 131
I had fun. :) Had to watch out for the sun though, it was intense. I tried to keep the wedding party in the shade as much as possible.

Couch surf; What I will be doing tonight.
          Picture# 130
I typically don't sleep on couches, this will be pretty interesting. But with the amount I plan on traveling in the future I should probably get used to it. It's typically the cheapest way to stay in places. Here's a great resource to find out more on Couch-surfing!

Jessica's snake Felix

My sister loves reptiles and such. I had to take advantage of this love.
           Picture # 129
Meet Felix, the snake that live upstairs. He does not bite and his scales are super soft. It was a lot of fun playing with him.

Picture # 128
No excuses on this one. I did a crappy job today. I just added the lizard b/c I wanted to look cool.

Back home!

I made it home safe and sound. And, since my sister so kindly pointed out that pretty much no one reads the words I type out, I think I am just going to post the pictures from now on with maybe a blurb about what I did to get the image. Sound good? Sweet.
           Picture # 127
I took this in my room with no extra light, it was pretty tough. But I really just wanted a bare bones picture with my roommate and I before she took off. She was definitely a great roommate and I wish her all the blessings in the world as she is getting married this summer. I'll miss her!

Down to the wire!

I have been packing up a storm for the last hour. I need to start studying soon. Tomorrow I have two finals and then I have got to move fast to get everything packed up into my car and hit the road so I make it back to Maryland before midnight. I'll really be cutting close, so if I can't get everything done before seven tomorrow then I'm just going to spend the night at a friend's house and then leave early on Wednesday.
         Picture # 126
This picture actually turned out a LOT darker then I thought it would. I was going for something really bright and fun. But sometimes you just have to go with the best look.

Sunday, May 9, 2010

I spent a ton of time in my room today. Packing mostly, but with some studying, and a lot of facebook. So around five I knew I needed to get out and do something or I was going to go crazy. So I went to my friend Lauren's house to check out her new Colt. They haven't named him yet, but it looks like it is going to be Jack.
         Picture # 125
This was my self portrait with him since I didn't bring my tri-pod. When I went to go say hi he was laying on the ground, but he soon got up and started to play. :)
         Picture # 125b

Lauren took this picture. Isn't he so cute?! He loved to lip (I guess that's what you would call it) at people. It felt so weird. But he was so cute I didn't mind in the slightest. I can't wait to play with him again!

Senior Picnic

Each year my school hosts a senior picnic obviously that is only "open" to graduating seniors. But I went. I've actually gone two times before as well. I have connections. :) Actually two of my best guy friends got me in and we did a lot of video work. So I was pretty legit since I was actually doing work and not just crashing the party.
          Picture # 124
I was left to guard the equipment while the guys went off to find people to interview. I had fun.

My only self portrait from yesterday....

So I seriously did not have time to post anything yesterday. If fact I only took one self portrait and it's not even very good. But I had a fun filled day and did get a lot of work done. Hopefully it all works out, if I messed up then I'll be in a ton of trouble b/c it'll take a lot of work to fix it. Anyway, I'm rambling.
          Picture # 123
Just a shadow one. Then I started taking picture of all the video action we were doing. It was fun. For me at least!

Roof top video shoot!

Today was a treat. I was supposed to have three video shoots, but one got canceled. :( The first one started off bright and early at 7 in the morning. I will admit, I was a little late. It was so tough getting out of bed after that concert last night. And the video shoot was up on the roof of my school! It was amazing. I've got two different pictures to post that I think so where I am at very well.
        Picture # 122
Here I am up on the roof with one of my good friends Josiah. He was in charge of safety. He's done a bunch of these types of things before.
        Picture # 122b
I was laying down on the shingles and one of my best friends (his name is Ryan) decided to pop in and ruin my shot. It was funny.

A great day and a new (ish) friend!

Wow there are no words to describe today. I've been up since seven and I literally just got back to my room. I have been here and there and everywhere on campus, as well as socializing with a lot of good friends. I'm finally getting a lot of internship stuff taken care off, it's been stressing me out, but it's coming along. And I got to end the day with a great sermon from campus church and then attended a phenomenal concert series for free! I might post a picture or two from there on here some day soon, but it was so much fun. Bread of Stone was an amazing act, as well as John Reuben who was hilarious. The concert ended with Super Chick, one of my top bands ever!!! They have such an encouraging message and their songs really just bring truth to this world. It's awesome.
           Picture # 121
So, I think I met this girl last semester during the Marching band season. But we never really got a chance to hang out until recently. And she is one of the sweetest/craziest girls I know. It's fun stuff! Oh, and I took this outside where we held church tonight. It was the perfect day for it too.

Election Day!

I voted today! They have been pushing politics for the entire semester, and so even though I had some friends who decided not to vote just because of this, I went out and voted for who I truly thought would make the best impact on my city. One of my guys got in, and he was my second fav so I'm not too disappointed. Anyway, I got to lay out in the sun for awhile today. Definitely want to do that again. It was so good just to get some sunshine.
       Picture # 120
I love the way the light falls on the flowers! So beautiful.

Cardboard testimony

So my hall this year was inspired by this video they saw called Cardboard Testimonies. We were able to put a photo slideshow together of a few girls and how God has changed them through the year (guess who was volunteered to create the slideshow...yours truly). These are my two pictures.
          Picture # 119
It's kind of hard to see my words, but it says "Stuck in my Faith" meaning that I was stagnant. Oh, and I just have to say something about this. I decided to challenge myself and not wear any makeup today. It was so hard to not run back to my room and at least put on mascara or something. But nope, I went the entire day, no makeup. I think I might do it again tomorrow too, but I'm undecided. I just love playing with different looks and stuff.
         Picture # 119b
This semester I really have starting running to God. It's a daily struggle, because out of no where I'll start struggling with things I thought were buried in my past or I'll start getting on a random ego trip. But when I really start living for God's glory instead of my own things just take off. I can only describe it as a miracle in my own life.

I'm so ready to be done

I'm being lazy with my picture today. I just can't help it. I have a huge paper due tomorrow and I'm not done with it at all. It's funny just how done I am ready to be with school.
          Picture # 118
Tomorrow I'll be more creative.

Saturday, May 1, 2010

That's pretty much the only way to describe it. It was great. I took so many pictures today it was ridiculous. The video shoot went really well (at least in my opinion) and my friend Ryan's movie premiere was so great. I was really impressed. I even got to go out for ice cream with some friends afterwards. But now I'm just worn out and ready for bed.
       Picture # 117
Not my best pic. But in my defense the camera is perched up on a tree, and I was constantly watching out for it. I took this on a quick break, so I was only able to get a few shots of myself in. But here is another shot I took of my co-star!
       Picture # 117b
Yes that is my skirt haha. And doesn't Tyler look just look like he's so full of angst? He was great working with though. It was awkward mostly because neither of us are lovey dovey people, but I think we were convincing enough as a couple. I also loved working with a guy who I know isn't going to start crushing on me or to create feelings that aren't there. I totally hope we can do more acting jobs together in the future.
