Exploring!

I went exploring all over today. I explored some more of downtown with my friend Bryan, then I explored my discipline when I worked on editing with my friend Lawrence, and I explored my mind when I had to act a role tonight with a few more friends. Life was good today, and I learned a lot just by experiencing.
Many of my friends are currently facing burn out. It is that time of the year, where the finish line is in sight but it is just SOOO effort to take those last few steps. ...I'm battling senoritis like crazy. I am so ready to be done with classes but not with learning. Or the college lifestyle, for that matter. During what other stage of life would I be able to just drive downtown at 11 o'clock in the morning, with a guy before his 1st class no less, and still have a wildly adventurous day that doesn't end until 1 in the morning? I'm going to miss this. The random productivity, but sheer lack of real responsibility. This is my view on college. Next year I have bills. I have to face my debt. I have to live in the real world with actual pay-or-no-pay situations.

But for now, I'm just a girl with a camera, hoping to one day change the world.

Yay downtown pictures!

Carolynn is a genius! She suggested a way to get my pictures off the card and it worked! I got my pictures downloaded and while I do have to go through an extra step, I can do whatever I want with them now. I'm so happy! So... while I did take a self for today, I really wanted to put up a picture from yesterday. and since the one I am posting is way better than what I took for today, I'm just gonna go with it. :D

Picture # 347
Super springy, right?! Anyway, it's supposed to rain tomorrow, :( but I'm hanging out with this cool guy named Bryan and we are going back downtown to take pics. We might just have to find places inside though.

Got my spring day!

Unfortunately, I was an idiot. I went out shooting today with my new camera (couldn't resist) and I took some really fun and cool looking selfs. But... I totally forgot about re-formatting my card. So now I can't access any of the pictures I shot. Which really sucks b/c it was a beautiful spring day and I went downtown wearing a great spring outfit. Grrr.

So here's a last minute shot. Yes, this is a face palm. GAH!

Picture # 346
I'm going to try to figure out a way to get the pics off... but I really don't think I can. I never even thought about it. DANG IT! Major fail on me.

Looking for spring

It snowed today. SNOWED. In March. Come on, this is Virginia! Oh well, it really wasn't that bad. Anyway, I had wanted to try to do a cave looking picture, looking like I was coming out of hibernation or something, but everything except this just looked dumb and I didn't have time to work on anything better. :(

Picture # 345

P.s., I got to slap a guy for a video shoot today. It was so fun! :)

Finishing out the 365

So I've made a decision. I'm going to finish out my 365 with my Rebel XS. It's gotten me this far, and I'm so close to finishing. If I'm out on a shoot with my 60 D then of course I won't hesitate on using it, but since at least about 97% of my pictures on this blog have been taken with the XS I should see it through. :(
I've been reading my manual though and getting really excited about using the 60 D. SO MUCH POTENTIAL!!!

Anyway, I made brownies tonight. Yum.

Picture # 344
Figured out a cool and easy way to cartoon myself... I didn't want the full effect, but if you are thinking I look weird is b/c I'm at 16% cartoon right now. Pretty cool, huh?

I got the camera! But... no one won. :(

My parents drove into to town and left, the time went by so fast. But I've charged up my new camera, and I've started reading the manual, and took a few test shots. I cannot wait to start using this camera professionally!

Anyway, I am very sad to say... that no one guessed the right answers. Don't worry though, I like doing contests and fun giveaway stuff so I'll do something like this again soon.

The answers: My favorite color is Orange and my new camera is a 60 D!

See!

Picture # 344
The big guesses were that the color was Red and the camera a T2i. Close! I guess the red is from my awesome red jacket, but no. I just don't have a lot of Orange clothing, more like Orange stuff. And the background to my blogspot is Orange. ;)

Weird mood

So I went with a dark picture today. Don't really know why, but it fit when I was taking my picture. Anyway, both my parents are coming tomorrow and I'm SO EXCITED!!!! Tomorrow is going to be phenomenal. And that's that.

Picture # 343

Contest is still going on! I know it's a hard one, but I didn't want it to be easy and no one has gotten the two questions right so far. More info in the post below, but here are the questions:

What is my favorite color and what is the new model of the camera I am getting? Comment on the post below or tweet me at EEwing390. Good luck!

Contest post! :D

Well... my dad has done it. He gone and made my day!  I found out about my car, and how it's now fixed and coming back to me this weekend. And recently I've been talking with both my parents about possibly getting a graduation present a bit early. I thought it was going to be a tough sell, but my camera is breaking down and steadily getting worse. So I asked if it were possible for me to get a new camera sometime in April. Mom said talk to Dad, Dad said send me info, and that was that.

We've been emailing back and forth, and I got the text today saying he BOUGHT THE CAMERA!!! Not only am I getting my car back, but a present comes along with it too! I tried to do a picture that could sum up my feelings.

Picture # 342
Yeah, my grin was pretty much as big as it would go. Now, before you start saying stuff like, "spoiled" and "lucky," know that I paid for my first DSLR all by myself. I also bought two lenses for it. At this point in my life, I do not have the means to purchase another DSLR, let alone a better one. My Rebel is two years old, and I've used it nearly everyday. It's been dropped three times (Once by a horse, once on accident by an Egyptian, and it took a hard fall out of my bag at the Pyramids.) And since I couldn't afford a warranty at the time, I just went with it. But with paid gigs coming up I was worried about using my camera, because it's so slow now. It works ok for my selfs, but I've missed quite a few shots because the camera says it's "busy." People aren't going to pay me for missed moments. So my parents are looking at this like it's an investment into my future. I have the best parents. :D

***LOVE FREE STUFF? READ ON***
In celebration of my surprisingly early and phenomenally awesome gift, I've decided to have a little contest. If you are near the Lynchburg area and you win, I want my first official portrait (aka not a self, I will probably start using the camera immediately for that) to be of you. And if you want, after I get the portrait, for $20 we can make it a full on photo shoot, you can even include someone else (romantic shots, friends, pets, etc. If you are back home, since you would have to wait until I get back for the summer, I'll go ahead and make it a free mini-shoot downtown by the Washington Pub. And if you don't live either at my school or in my home town then will take the most artsy-fartsy picture I can with the new cam and send you the high-res. I'll also be open to ideas of  what you would want.

CONTEST: Guess my favorite color, and what camera you think I'm getting. You can tell me by leaving a comment here, or tweeting me at EEwing390. If more than one person gets both right, then I'll contact them with another question, and so on. I'll announce the winner Saturday night!

Fun job!

I acted today, for my friend Katie's film. I have a super small role, but it's fun. I pretend to cry and get strangled. It's good times.

Here's me before getting killed off.

Picture # 341

Here's me after:

Brittney did some amazing work. Apparently I looked scary coming out on set. Fun!
Then right after we wrapped I met up with this guy I just met through Sarah a couple days ago for ice cream. I made sure to wipe off all the strangulation marks... We had a great time. He's the same major as I am, and a mechanic! It's always good to know one of those. ;)

Did you eat some fruit today?

In my apartment we always have some kind of fruit around. So much so that Lauren brought in a fruit bowl for our counter top so we could get them out of the pantry. It's not big enough.

Picture #340
Not my best, I know. I forgot my tri-pod earlier when it was sunny out. I was kicking myself over it. Oh well.

New flash!

So my roommate Lauren has this really awesome boyfriend named Josh who is lending me his hot-shoe flash. I never ever thought I would get a separate flash so I really have no idea how to use it or even what's it's product name is. But I'm excited to use it and be aware I might randomly start experimenting with it and showing the results on here.

Picture # 339

My life is so crazy right now, at least I have this project to help me focus on something. I'm really going to miss it when it's gone, even though I have had many, many days when I didn't feel like taking a picture at all.

Reading a book...

I have a book report due tomorrow. This is me, frantically reading through to refresh my memory of the story. Don't worry, I don't have to read the entire book I have in my hands. It's two books in one, and I am reading the second book. It's Frank Peretti, "Piercing the Darkness," and man is it good. Very powerfully written, and the story just intertwines so well from the prequel. Highly recommend, though I must warn it is very in your face Christian with the messages it presents. Unless you are into mysteries and thrillers, you probably won't appreciate it as much as someone who believes in the doctrines Peretti discusses.

Picture # 338
*Note, I chose this image because it looks like my hair is SUPER long. I love it! I wish my hair really is that long... one day. Anyway, back to reading! (What I should have been doing all spring break...)

Half-faced

So I'm on my way out to meet up with my best friend from high school. I'm excited. We are two completely different girls now, but you know there is always some warm fuzzy feelings you get when you hang out with a person you once knew so well. Anyway, I went out to the swamp in front of my house to take my picture but as I was finishing up I noticed this open area of a tree and some bark. And hands down, this turned out to be my favorite picture.

My poor car!

It wouldn't start this morning, so my dad ended up having it towed to the local mechanic's place. Good thing I was home, right? That would have sucks if I couldn't get out and about down at school. Dad is taking good care of me. :)

Picture # 336
I think Minnie is trying to comfort me in this picture...

And don't worry, I'll be able to get back for school. It looks like I'll have to take my dad's car though.

St. Patrick's Day!

Today has been fun, pretty productive as well. I'm posting now, because I might go out tonight. Not sure though, because most people I'm friends with are staying in because they have work tomorrow. And the rest... are going out to get wasted.
But my dad and I went out to watch the St. Patrick's Day parade and I brought Angel! She has never been out to a parade before so she was freaking out but she did pretty well overall. I was impressed.

*Please forgive that I'm slightly out of focus. But the other factors in this picture sold it for me. You know, the sunflare, the smiling, the green-clothed people. :)

Go green!

Back home

This spring break has been bittersweet for me. Last year I was rocking it out in South Florida. I had hoped to do that again but things fell through. So I've been chilling with friends and doing mad work on projects. Anyway, I left my apartment today and came home to enjoy St. Patrick's Day with family. Looks like I made it just in time because my mom is a part of the community band and they had a concert tonight. So that was fun. And tomorrow morning I'm getting up early to do an interview project at the TV station here I've helped with in the past. It'll be fun.

Picture # 334

Another reason it's bittersweet? I play/cuddle with Angel because she wants attention, but it makes me miss my baby, Holly. It's weird only having one dog at home now. Sad times.

Yay bowling!

I was so afraid today was going to be a wash. Nothing seemed to be going the way I planned. But some how God got me out of my idea of what my day was going to be like and made it better. SO much better than it would have been if things had gone the way I wanted to. Part of what happened today made me uber late on posting this picture, but it was worth it.

Picture # 333
Now I'm going to go crash and prepare for leaving tomorrow. I'm not ready, but I'm not in any certain rush either. My goal is to make it home in time for my mom's community band concert which starts at 7 or 7:30. So as long as I leave before 1:30 I should be fine, but I want to eat dinner at home... so I'll probably get up around nine and leave by 11-12. I have a lot of finishing stuff up to do. I cleaned my room, but the vacuum cleaner wasn't working very well so I had to clean out all the filter which really put me back. So I still have to pack a bit. Oh well. Bed here I come!!!

Fail day

So, I did NOT get my picture done yesterday. I'm sorry. It's been a long time since I've missed. But I feel super lame because I'm so close to being done. Which is really sad. But yeah, yesterday I was stuck doing homework all day and I was pretty much miserable. But now I'm done and can move forward. Though today's picture sucks as well.

I'm sorry I fail so much! Tomorrow will hopefully be really cool! I just have to think of something unique to do... which may or may not happen.

Picture # 331
Pure Laziness. And lack of creativity. Oh well.

Picture # 332

SPRING BREAK. And I just lie on the floor. Lame. My spring break last year was phenomenal though!  I love the sunrise picture. Just search spring break in my search bar. Should come right up.

Group shot!

Went to a major video shoot today, where they started in one location around nine, I got there by ten, and then we hopped in the cars and drove to a little park where the majority of the day was spent. It went really well, but took forever! I think everyone just wanted to go home. But they all stayed until the final scene was dine because the Director and the Director of Photography are just so passionate about this movie. Such dedication.

I took a TON of BTS pictures which unfortunately I can't post on here. :( I also had my own little mini photoshoot when I handed off my camera to a lead actor when he was bored. But no selfs until the end, when all the work was done. Oh, and in the picture is all crew and a few actors.
But here is the trailer for the student film and if you can make it, come to the premiere in May!

Just dance!

So I had a great girl date with my friend Brittney. And once again, I included her in my picture of the day. We had an improv dance party in the middle of her empty quad, b/c everyone else has left already for spring break. Fun times.

Not my best, I know. But fun!

The Potential Inside

The Potential Inside is a movie based around the world of competitive bicycle racing. Not my normal cup of tea. But the production company filmed the movie in VA and my school was used in a lot of it. So they held the premiere here. It was pretty sweet. Not the best movie in the world, but it was better than I expected and pretty good overall.
I was an usher for the event, and here is the dress I wore.
Picture # 328
Stole it from my sister. Love it!

Crazy!

I'm crazy. I know. It's ok. You know why it's ok? Because women are crazy and men are stupid. That's what I have decided. And no one has disagreed yet! It makes so much sense.

Anyway, quickly, here is my picture of the day!
Picture # 327

I decided to try out a different style tonight. I really like it. I might have to use this type of editing again!

Oh, and here is the link to a video I'm in. It's fun times.  Video

Happy Women's Day?

So apparently it's Women's Day? Or something. And Mardi Gras. I don't even know.  I don't really care either. All I'm going to say is that it is hard being a woman. If you don't want to take my word on it, just read Sojourner Truth's Ain't I A Woman.

Picture # 326
This describes how I felt today. Now, don't go reading to much into it! I'm just expressing myself. And saying that being woman is just no fun sometimes.

Solar flare... in the car?

So I discovered that my car light can produce flare. Who knew? I wish I had taken my picture earlier, when I was on a video shoot, but I had a headache and we were concentrating on get all the shots done first. It took way longer than I thought it would, but I feel like we got some good footage. So hopefully it all works out and edits the way I see it in my head. We will probably have to ADR some sounds though. Ugh.

Picture # 325
Anyway, hopefully my picture tomorrow will be better. I'll have more time to work on it for sure. I think. Tomorrow is clean up everything and do a ton of homework day. Blah.

From a bum to a school psychiatrist

That's what I played today. It was quite fun! Long though. Anyway, I have to finish up some homework real quick so I can go home and sleep... but here's my picture of the day, with a co-star!

Picture # 324
He's playing this punk high schooler who smokes, and I'm the woman who is trying to (sternly) make a difference in this school. It's a pretty fun script.

Saturday, March 5, 2011

What a bum!

That's what I was today. I did some behind the scenes stuff for some friends student films and one of the groups needed extras to be homeless for a scene. I hadn't planned on being in it so I totally was the cleanest-looking there, but oh well. Jared, I hoped everything looked good on camera for you!

Picture # 323
In the afternoon I got to see my dad and my sister when they stopped by on their way home for Jess to spend her break there. It was nice and was perfect timing!!! Then I drove over to my friend Ryan's house where I met up with his film group and we drove out to this epic location. I was just shooting video camera so no self portrait from there. Oh well. It was a lot of fun though. Long, but fun.

Trimmed!

Ok, so CRAZY day. It was all like, GO GO GO! Then it stopped for awhile. Then it became hectic again! Then I attempted to do homework, went over to a Wii party, got my hair cut by the lovely Brittney, and ended my evening with a bazillion phone calls and text messages. Sheeesh!

Picture # 323

*Not edited, straight out of the camera. I'm going to bed ya'll.

I'll be up at 6:30ish, cause guess what, I've got two video shoots planned out for tomorrow! It's going to be epic. But I'm going to be so tired. I'll probably be anti-social part of the time and bring my laptop for homework purposes...or twitter purposes... Oh well.

My comfort foods

What I want the most when I stressed out.

Picture # 322
Good day, worst ending ever. I guess it was a good wake up call, but man, I am so ready for bed and to just forget about it.

Levitation

Today was SO beautiful outside! I worked really hard today, then played outside! I promptly crashed when I went back inside though. I'm feeling an early night for me.

It was really fun taking my picture. I ran, I jumped, and did odd things. I feel like I really got a good workout.

Picture # 321

It was surprisingly hard to levitate right. I was planning on posting a picture of my entire body in the air, but something was always just a bit off. This is definitely something I want to practice some more and fine-tune. I don't think I will ever be as good at levitating as this woman though. Or Rosie Hardy, who constantly amazes me with her self portraits.

Tuesday, March 1, 2011

Oh laundry.

You have to wonder how moms do it. I'm only just doing laundry for me and so many times I get behind on taking proper care of my clothing. For example; Right now, I have a pile of clean clothes in my closet... and they've been there for a week. The clothes I have in the dryer now will probably join that pile. Who knows, maybe I'll get to putting everything away if I wake up early enough tomorrow morning. But chances are... slim to none.
