Working on head shots!

Meet Mike. He's awesome. And if you are looking for an actor, you should hire him! He's phenomenal. He's been in several shows on stage and acted in quite a few videos, such as a recent carpet commercial and playing the villain in the film, "The Other Side."

Michael W.

Now I have to show the rest to him and let him choose his favorites. But this was one of mine, so I thought I would post it.

I miss blogging!

So I'm starting back up again. But instead of another 365, I'm just going to post some of my favorite images from shoots I've been working. At least until I get my real website up and running. Which hopefully will be soon... Anyway, I have to make this fast, because I seriously need to get to bed. Tomorrow is a HUGE day!

And here are some images from Easter weekend!

The Fam

The wedding I was a second shooter for! (Other images are the other photographer's unless I choose o use some for a portfolio)

And finally, I took bf/gf pictures of my gorgeous roommate Lauren and her man!

I had such a good Easter, I really hope you did too! Anyway, I'm playing around with watermarks and logos on here until I decide what I am going to use professionally. We shall see!

...If anyone wants to design one for me please let me know. :D

Reflection post coming tomorrow...

I've pulled out all the pictures that I posted that I want to highlight and realized there were way to many. So I need to take longer to compose my thoughts and piece them together in a well-written manner. Also, I have a ton of school work and need sleep.

3. 6. 5.

I made it. It took me just under a year and a half but I finished this crazy project. I have posted 365 pictures of self-portraits and I just cannot believe it. And if I mis-numbered any of them, do NOT tell me. I just want to enjoy this moment, and to bask in the feeling of accomplishing a project of this magnitude.

Not every picture was perfect (haha, far... FAR from it) but I stretched and learned and risked so much throughout my time of doing this.

Project 365: January 1, 2010-April 17, 2011

And at last, without further ado, my picture of the day...

Picture # 365

There is so much more I want to say. About this photo, about this year, everything. But instead I am just going to leave this as is, for what it is, and write out all my feelings tomorrow.

Thank you for joining me on this incredible journey.

Today was a very crazy day. It started at 5:45 am and I just got back from my day after midnight. It was good though, and I got a descent break where I almost took  a nap around three. Early morning video shoots are tough. It was fun though. We had some real troopers with our talent and crew. And the family whose farm we were using bought us pizza! I had no idea this was coming at all... and it was some yummy pizza, let me tell you. I scarfed down three slices because I was so hungry! We had been trekking in the wet woods since nine.

Anyway, around seven I left to go to the Junior/senior Spring Gala. I met up with my friends Olivia & Austin, plus my "date" Kristina. The theme was Masquerade, inspired by the Phantom of the Opera.

Picture # 364
Awesome mask, isn't it? I wanted an extreme close-up of my face, but I didn't feel like dragging my tri-pod up to the event. It would have been too awkward.

Face time

Sorry it's not a super cool picture tonight. I'm really tired and I have/had a ton to do all day. But I love you all, and I love this project, so I tried. This is straight out of the camera, I have no time to mess with color. :(
But tomorrow should be a really cool picture, unless it is completely thunder storming. Please pray it's just cloudy!

Picture # 363

Side note: I saw my school do Phantom of the Opera tonight, and OH MY GOSH it was so awesome! Everyone did a great job. I want to go see it again.

Fun times. I did a whole bunch of crazy stuff out in the sun today. I jumped, I ran, I did handstands and cartwheels. It was fun, and by the end I was, dare I say it? Glistening!

Picture # 362
And you would not believe how long it took me to get this shot right. I would have kept going even longer, but one, my arms were getting tired of holding me up so much. And two, I have a script due tomorrow that I really need to work on. I'm glad I took the time to go be outside for awhile. Had to get my Vitamin D!

Randomly late

Wow I can not believe how long it's been since I've been this late getting my picture up. But I can honestly say I walked in the door at 11:56 and just now was when I was able to post it up.

Oh man, today was a busy, but great day. Except for my assessments, which was because my university was doing school-wide testing to see how they were doing in specific areas. I had two and they were not fun. But I went and did my duty, and I enjoyed the rest of the day off. But now I have to get up super early and accomplish a whole lot of junk. Blah.

In other news, I bought a new back drop yesterday. I bought it because it was on sale for two bucks a yard and I just liked it. I tried it out tonight and REALLY like how it looks on camera. How epic does this look?!

Picture # 361
Next time I use this fabric I'm going to really try for edgy lighting. I had to go natural on this one due to time constraints. :(

Oh well, hanging out with good friends at the BBQ was way worth the time spent instead of working on this.

Spooky look

My picture today is pretty dark. Which is really funny, because I had a wonderful night tonight. But because I was having such a wonderful night, my camera stayed in my purse and I did not get a crazy fun shot like I had intended. Oh well.

This picture makes me feel like I am about to close the lid on some poor little soul... that I am a monster about to destroy any hope a person might have of escaping. Kind of film noir-ish.

What do you think?

Studio stuff!

So I did some behind the scenes work for a lot of video students this semester. I really love doing behind the scenes because I just show up, be useful, take artsy pics of EVERYTHING... and then give all the files to the director or producer or the DP. I don't edit anything unless I specifically want to for an image. Yet I still get all the credit! It's awesome. Anyway, my friend Jared is the Director of Photography for one of the student films and he called me in today to get some cast pictures done for the movie poster.

Picture # 359
We played around trying to figure out the settings before everyone got there. He's a fun guy to just be chill with. And he's a photographer as well, so it was nice to just go and stand in front of the camera and not be judged for taking a self. :D

Here's one of the images that I really like. Maybe they will use it, maybe they won't, but I like it. I'm super excited for the premiere to happen. It's April 27th! Should be good!

Cast picture for "The Other Side"!
Well... it's off to bed for me, I need sleep b/c I'm going out tomorrow night! Putt Putt here I come!

Maybe. But it's a cliche that every self-portrait 365-er is supposed to do, even I don't think this one is too bad. Most show a LOT more and/or nearly all of a girl's boobs. I had no desire to do that. But I thought a bubble bath might be fun. And I had a throw back to childhood with the Barbie bubble bath thing. I used to take baths all the time. For hours. Just playing with my toys. Now I'm way to big. :(
If you guys think it is really bad though, I'll switch it out or something...

Picture # 358

I was feeling crappy today... I didn't want to do anything even though the weather was perfect outside. Finally after I took this I forced myself to get out and moving. I ended up completely re-doing a photoshop project for class, but I'm so much more happier with it now.

More fashion show pics to come soon! Not too many, but the best ones. :)

Downtown Fashion Show!

Tonight I met up with an old friend and my roommate to go watch a fashion show. We had no idea what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. Yeah, a lot of the models were way too skinny and some designers barely used any material. But I loved the accessories and shoes they had! Everyone's hair was phenomenal and it was really cool to see so many unique faces on the runway. Definitely want to go watch another show.

Picture # 357
Amy and I! I was so glad she came with me, she was really fun to hang out with and make comments to. Whenever we spotted something we liked we would catch the other's eye and point. It was so sweet!

And here is my friend Kelly. She did an amazing job as a hair accessory model and I totally would love to buy her headpiece if only I had money!

Isn't she so beautiful?! She needs to walk the runway more often.

Theater majors are the best!

Theater people are just so awesome. Who else has swords and ponchos and all sorts of crazy things in their closets but theater guys??? I went over to my friend Mike's place tonight and we went all out.

Btw, the hat that I'm wearing? Kangaroo leather. Oh yeah, I was so rocking it out!

Picture # 356

We so legit. :D

Om nom nom

I filmed for a bit in my apartment today. There is a small youtube contest going on, so I thought it would hurt to try to win! But I think the deadline is tomorrow I suck at editing, so I probably won't get it done in time. Oh well. You had to show one of your favorite recipes. I LOVE Cauliflower, so I made roasted curry Cauliflower in a skillet, and it is so delicious. If I ever edit the video together I'll post it on here along with the recipe. This is essentially a screen shot, with my roommate and her bf photo bombing. Oh well. I could take them out in photoshop but I'm so tired. Bed time for me!

Picture # 355
Yes, I intentionally cut off my eyes. I just didn't feel like having my face in the video, so it's mostly all hand shots. :D

Me? In a tree?!

Yes, I climbed a really cool little tree today. I climbed up pretty high then realized there was a colony of little bugs so I avoided sitting up there again. But I forgot to adjust for this so I accidentally cut off my foot making me look like an amputee, but I loved the composition and everything. ...You probably wouldn't have even noticed if I hadn't said anything. Dang it!

Picture # 354

You can't really tell, but the tree is directly over a little stream. I could have easily fallen in on either side. But I was just so confident in my awesomeness that I didn't even need my hands to hold on. ;P

Actually, it was totally my Vibrams (thanks Mom!) that kept me in place. If I moved my feet at all I started slipping. I still got some scratches, I mean... BATTLE SCARS from my crazy antics, but it was worth it.

And in the spirit of spring, go out exploring tomorrow. Find your own little tree to climb. It's quite fun.

Peace Out!

Somedays I absolutely love this project and it energizes me like nothing else. But somedays... I'm just so ready to leave it behind!

Picture # 353

Life = Crazy. Crazy good! Haha. ...Sorry I'm really tired tonight.

Time escapes me. It's always a surprise to find how quickly it moves. I planned to do a really cool picture for today, but guess what? I didn't have time. :(

So here is a picture I took around two... after I got out of court. I had a traffic violation that I (at least in my knowledge) was not guilty off. So I showed up and went, shaking, in front of the judge. He said he would give me the benefit of the doubt and I was free to go!

Picture # 352
I took this purely for documentation purposes... but you know, posting it on the blog works too.

And God is so good. He has put so many recent coincidences in my life I am so amazed. Go get lost and have a conversation with Him. It could change your life. :D

Happy Sunday!

Wow what a day. I took a few selfs out on set of a student film today, but since I at first couldn't bring my tripod and then lent it out to the director, I couldn't utilize my surroundings. But here is my favorite one from earlier...

Picture # 351
And... ok, confession. I also looked like a hot mess today, so I didn't feel up to taking a "real" self portrait. I've done those before on this blog and didn't want another. But, in order to make up for my fail-ness, here is one of my favorite pictures I took today!

Sunlight + moss + ring = LOVE

Time to sleep

It's been a long day. A great day, but a very long day. Man I'm tired. But my room is clean, I was productive and spent a ton of time with people I love. What could be better?

This is my crashing picture.
Picture # 350
I feel like this photo is super simple, yet complex. It's almost like I'm invoking longing, but don't quite know how to express it. I like it! Haha. Enjoy your weekend, all.

April Fools!

So, last year on April Fool's Day A friend snuck in behind my back and changed my relationship status on Facebook from single to engaged. The guy that he had originally intended to put me in with the relationship was actually out of town and was far away from Facebook and couldn't confirm. So me, being me, decided I would keep it, but needed someone to be engaged to. Well this guy and I had just had a conversation the day before about how he never wanted to get married and I was fine if I never did and definitely did NOT want a boyfriend. So I asked him and he went for the joke, we took pictures and everything. And if people had just dropped it I probably would have asked him to do this again. But they didn't, and you can't really repeat jokes twice... especially romantic things.

So here was my practical joke of the day; I went blonde!

Picture # 349
It's a terrible wig, but I had fun! I kind of do want to go blonde now... it would be interesting. But awful for my hair. It would take a lot to change it so drastically. Maybe one day. When someone else pays for it!
