To the daily grind tomorrow

I can't believe it. Never really thought I would have a job like I am starting tomorrow, but it is my reality. It is a "perfect" job for me, though we shall see how I feel in a few months. Anyway, I had one last day of freedom today. And I just had to share one of my favorite images of my day.

FREEEEEEDOM!!!!

Many thanks to my friend Andrew who was basically my human tripod while I jumped and ran in front of the camera. We then played frisbee for an hour. Ahhhhhh summer. How I love you.

July 19, 2011

This date marks the end of a six year career. I started working at the produce stand my sophomore year of high school, and have worked it at least for a few weeks every summer since. Even though I officially won't be working there anymore, I might still help out a weekend or two if needed.

And to celebrate this official ending, I needed to take a last picture with the major seller and one of my favorite Eastern Shore things to eat.

White Sweet Corn

Since this is my final summer work picture, I might start another project. Debating!

Butterfly!

Made a new friend today at the stand.

Love the colors!

Just chillin'

And don't those blackberries look delicious?! I personally don't eat them... I'm a raspberries girl. But they look so good!

Anyway, today has left me exhausted but happy. I had a good time at work (though I had to stay way past when we "close") and then I met up with a friend at the local park. And he brought Lemonade in Mason Jars! Hope we do that again. :)

Progressing on

Wow what a whirlwind life can be. Today while I was working the other stand, I was constantly doing something. Stocking, or reading... or talking on the phone. Today was a big day, and I am so grateful for it.

While today was not my last day at the produce stand, it kind of felt like it. I received a job offer and I accepted! I will start this month, which is unbelievable to me as it was this same month I submitted my application. Funny how I wasn't even looking for a job, but God orchestrated so much of my life this month that I can't deny it was Him. I do not know if He placed me there for more my benefit or the company I will be working for, but I very excited to start this new journey of my life.

Warm Endings and empty shelves :)

*Huge shout-out to my cousin Ryan for sending me the job description, and to his wife Amy for giving great interview and dress advice.

*I also want to thank my AMAZING references who literally told this company to hire me. I am so grateful for them and the confidence they have in me.

The other stand

The produce stand I manage has two different locations. For the vast majority of the time, I am at the bigger stand. But since I had been putting in so many 10 hour days at that stand (with a long commute) I decided to try working at the other stand. I think it was EXACTLY what I needed! It was a change of both scenery and pace.

I have tomorrow off to run errands and get projects done, and then on Thursday I have a second interview with this amazing company in my home town! I am really excited about this opportunity. Please pray that I get it! :)

Playing around with cam settings!

I love warm tones, and bright simple pictures. So the past few days I've been playing with over exposure. Here is one I took at work...

My best friend at the stand

Since I mostly work by myself and am to afraid to bring my laptop out, I have plenty of time to do what I wished I could have over the school year. And that is just read a straight up book.

I read everyday articles and blogs posts, but rarely did I take the time to read through a novel or something published that was more than 10,000 words. Now I've read through 3 fiction novels, 5 magazines, several "mini-guides," and am currently reading through Seth Godin's "Lynchpin." All of this (well, minus the magazines) was because of....

I started browsing at the stand and found a book I REALLY want to buy. Maybe if I get a new job I will... well, it is only ten bucks. I shouldn't be such a cheapskate. We shall see! :)

*Highly recommend getting a kindle/nook/etc. E-readers are super convenient. And you can still highlight and take notes on what you are reading. Pretty nifty!

A funny insect

Totally forgot to take my picture at work on the 4th of July. It was just to hectic and exhausting. Oh well. I'll post a fireworks picture instead. And I saw a really odd ant-thing at the stand today. It was moving so fast I barely caught it. If you know what it is, please tell me!

Happy 4th of July!

Odd little creature...

A sister work date

My lil' sis and I worked together at the stand today. And we each made $30 in tips. People were so generous! Definitely helped to make the day go well.

Sisters being silly

I might have to end up working for a short while tomorrow to help on a busy day, but I'm hoping not... so I probably won't take a picture. We shall see!

A picture and an excuse

Towards the end of a very long work day...
# 6!

After I let the produce slowly dwindle as customers bought them... I cleaned up and almost immediately went over to my half-sister's house to watch her boys while she went out to support her husband. I just got back, and I am soooooo tired (getting up at 6:30 too) but it was worth it. I love those boys! I can't wait to spend more time with them this year. One of the biggest pluses of moving back home.
